Richard Sinton Jewellers

Richard Sinton Jewellers have consistently delivered first class customer service for almost 35 years in Newcastle Upon Tyne, thus establishing a status as one of the North's most trusted jewellers.

Identifying and securing design talent is a critical aspect of the business, evidenced by collections in store from contemporary jewellery designers such as Theo Fennell and Christopher Wharton. The store continues to evolve with the redesigning of the silver gallery, showcasing major brands Kit Heath, Sif Jakobs and Georg Jensen among others.

A unique product range sets Richard Sinton Jewellers apart from the competition, as does the broad range of additional services offered including bespoke design, remodeling and valuation.

Our story began in 1984, when Richard and Sue Sinton opened their first store in Queens Square, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Queens Square, formerly a cinema, was redesigned as a modern, chic shopping centre in 1984. Richard Sinton Jewellers moved into the original projectionist's room.

The aim of the store was to showcase beautiful jewellery and to provide stylish surroundings in which to display them. Objects d'art, new to the area, were also showcased and the store was probably the first in Newcastle to offer gallery style exhibitions of their designers collections.

1989 brought a new, elegant shopping mall to Newcastle. The former Handsyside Arcade, a Edwardian indoor market, was transformed into Eldon Garden Shopping Centre. Princess Margaret did the honors of cutting the ribbon on November 17th.

After 4 successful years in Queens Square, Richard and Sue Sinton saw this as the perfect opportunity to relocate to a larger premises. This enabled the introduction of a larger collection of diamonds and fine jewellery, as well as watches and gifts, all displayed in a new sleek and elegant store.

To accommodate the busy sales of watches and gifts Richard Sinton Jewellers opened a new store on the lower level of Eldon Garden.

After an extremely successful year with the watches and gifts boutique, the decision was made to expand the original showroom to welcome the ever growing watches and gifts department. Merging the two stores created a more relaxed shopping experience, allowing customers to browse and purchase for different occasions in one place.

Charity Events

Over the years Richard Sinton Jewellers has hosted many events for charities such as Marie Curie, St. Oswalds and the Children's Society.

With the help of stars Jonny Wilkinson, Robbie Elliott and Shay Given, to name a few, the events have been great successes and have raised over £30,000 for various charities.

In 2006 the Richard Sinton Jewellers showroom saw a second expansion, after acquiring a neighbouring unit.

The area of the store that had previously housed the collection of silver jewellery was extended and transformed into a larger watch and gifts gallery, and a new contemporary silver gallery was created at the second entrance to the store.

To celebrate a fantastic 25 years in business Richard Sinton commissioned a collection of limited edition jewellery.

Nine necklaces were handmade by London designer Jacobs Jewellery "In stylising the design on the 'S' representing the Sinton name, we created a pendant with soft, pleasing lines which flows beautifully."

The collection featured a total of 25 diamonds to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

In 2011, after stocking Danish brand Georg Jensen for a number of years, Richard Sinton Jewellers were chosen to open the first UK stand-alone boutique.

The former silver gallery was transformed into a Danish inspired showroom to accommodate Georg Jensen's Silver and Gold jewellery, as well as their stunning living and gifts collection.

We have had a fantastic journey since opening in 1984, the continued growth of the business is highlighted by the newly expanded and refurbished store.

The recent expansion of our silver gallery has allowed us to welcome new, must have brands such as Kit Heath, Bastian and Parisian designer Manoukian.

Staff loyalty has had a huge effect on the store, and with over 90 years experience between them, it's clear to see why Richard values his staff so highly, "Our staff are our family, they are integral to the success of the business. They are the best assets we've got".
